Commercial Director, KORE Insulation & KORE Retrofit | Chairperson, Passive House Association of Ireland

Caroline Ashe Brady is the Commercial Director of both KORE Insulation and KORE Retrofit, where she drives innovation and growth in sustainable building solutions. As Chairperson of the Passive House Association of Ireland, Caroline is a passionate advocate for energy efficiency and high-performance construction. With a wealth of industry experience, she is dedicated to helping homeowners and businesses achieve their retrofit and sustainability goals.

Stephen O’Shea

Head of Sustainable Construction & Reporting, Cairn

Architect with a keen focus on Sustainability, qualifying as a BER Assessor in 2009, Postgraduate in Building Performance (Energy Efficiency in Design) in 2020, Certified Passive House Designer and HPI Assessor in 2022. I now apply that knowledge at scale, iterating and refining towards an ideal – working with the best construction professionals to deliver robust, lower-carbon homes in neighbourhoods which prioritise quality of life and biodiversity.

Nathan Campbell

Estates Manager (Sustainable Construction) within Queen’s University Belfast

Nathan Campbell is an Estates Manager (Sustainable Construction) within Queen’s University Belfast. He is a Chartered Architect, Certified Passivhaus Designer and is an advocate for low carbon design and sustainability in the built environment.

Working across many sectors in architectural practice for over a decade, Nathan has practical experience and oversight of the challenges involved in the decarbonisation of the construction industry.

Nathan led the development of the University’s Net Zero guidance for capital works in alignment with the University’s ambition of achieving net zero carbon by 2040. He works alongside professional and academic partners within the University to develop engagement opportunities and ‘pathway projects’ to develop knowledge and aid upskilling. He also actively engages with industry groups such as BE-ST, The National Retrofit Hub, AECB, and RICS.

Patrycja Kochaniuk

Sustainability Lead, Scott Tallon Walker Architects

Patrycja Kochaniuk is the Sustainability Lead at Scott Tallon Walker Architects, where she drives the integration of environmentally conscious approaches across all projects, aligning with the practice’s design philosophy. A registered architect with a passion for sustainability, Patrycja holds a master’s degree in Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies from the Centre of Alternative Technology and has experience in Passive House design. She is also a LEED AP and an HPI Assessor.

Helena McElmeel

Principal of Helena McElmeel Architects

Helena McElmeel is a Registered Architect and principal of Helena McElmeel Architects, a Galway based architectural practice specialising in sustainability, passive house, placemaking and public realm projects. She is Chairperson of the RIAI Sustainability Taskforce and a board member of the Passive House Association of Ireland. She holds a MSc. Architecture in Advanced Energy and Environmental Studies and is a Certified Passive House Designer.

Ann-Marie Fallon

Associate Director and Passivhaus Designer, Architype

Ann-Marie is one of the UKs leading Passivhaus design experts and is an Associate Director at Architype. Architype is a 40 year old architecture practice with 3 studios across the UK who have spend the last 15 years delivering mainly non-domestic Passivhaus projects. Prior to working in the UK she spent time working with Joseph Little Architects in Dublin where she delivered Irelands first EnerPHit building in 2011. Having worked with Architype since 2016, she has recently become their cross office lead for their Perform+ energy consultancy studio. She spent the last 5 years growing the Edinburgh studio, and has supported Scottish Government on developing an outcomes based funding model for their educational buildings which sets energy metric targets. Her work in Scotland has also involved 7 local authorities sharing and collaborating on the development of a de-carbonisation methodology to enable stakeholders take clear decisions in decarbonising their estates, with 35+ non domestic buildings as part of the study which is evolving into the retrofit of leisure centres and pools to the Passivhaus standard. In her time at Architype Ann-Marie has been key in the delivery of several important UK projects, the first multi residential high density development in the UK Agar Grove in London, the first Passivhaus plus office building in Bicester Oxfordshire and the 1^stPassivhaus primary school in Scotland. She is an external examiner at UCL London, TU Dublin and an Unit convenor for Environmental Design at the University of Bath.

Tomás O’Leary

Managing Director of MosArt

Tomás O’Leary is Managing Director of MosArt, a multi-disciplinary design, consulting and education firm specialising in Passive House. MosArt is currently active on over 9,000 Passive House residential units across the globe, as well as many complex and challenging non-domestic projects. In terms of education, MosArt has trained over 5,000 Certified Passive House Designers and Tradespersons across Europe and North America and regularly delivers bespoke training for large developers and contractors.

Simon Bell

Director, HLM Architects

Simon Bell is a Director and Passivhaus Consultant with HLM Architects. He has acted as Passivhaus Consultant on single and multi-family residential projects as well as non-residential buildings including schools, university laboratory buildings and office buildings. He has direct experience through the design and construction of his own Passivhaus home and has built a team of 12 Passivhaus Designers within HLM across the UK and Ireland. Simon is also a Board member of the Passivhaus Association of Ireland seeking to promote the use of the Passivhaus Standard across all building types.

Owen Morgan

Associate Director Helena McElmeel Architects

Owen Morgan is a RIAI Registered Architect, Certified Passive House Designer and WELL AP with experience working on a wide range of project types including residential, master planning, commercial and fit-out. He has worked in practices in Ireland and Canada on both large- and small-scale projects. He leads the team at Helena McElmeel Architects delivering certified Passive House projects in the Galway region.

Barry McCarron

Managing Director, KORE Retrofit | Vice Chairperson, Passive House Association of Ireland

Barry McCarron is the Managing Director of KORE Retrofit, where he leads the delivery of sustainable, energy-efficient retrofit solutions across Ireland. As a board member of the Passive House Association of Ireland, Barry is dedicated to promoting the adoption of the Passive House standard nationwide. His commitment to sustainability is further reflected in his roles on the Ministerial Advisory Group for Architecture in Northern Ireland and the RSUA Climate Change Committee. Most recently, Barry was appointed Technical Chair for the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists in Ireland, underscoring his leadership and expertise in advancing innovation within the construction sector.

John O’Connell

Senior Contracts Manager, OCC Construction

John O’Connell is a Chartered Engineer, graduated from University of Galway with both a BEng and ME in Civil Engineering, he currently chairs Engineers Ireland West Region and works as Engineering & Contracts Manager at Galway based OCC Construction, leading the Passive Haus principal’s across the design and implementation of MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) to elevate the sustainability & quality of Residential projects. John is a advocate for pushing the boundaries in building excellence, as a qualified passive house designer, he lead the 1st passive certified multi-unit housing development in the west region in 2023, followed by the largest Lean construction MMC development in the city in 2024.

Justin Molloy

Director of Western, Midland and Northern Region Construction Industry Federation

Justin is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the construction industry, particularly in leadership roles. As the Director of the CIF Western, Midland and Northern Region, he plays a key role in advocating for the construction sector, representing its interests, and providing guidance and support to members across his region.

His career journey began with a degree in Construction Management, followed by twelve years of hands-on experience as a project manager for a large regional contractor. During this time, Justin developed a broad skill set, overseeing the construction of residential, commercial, and industrial projects, which helped him gain valuable insights into the complexities of construction project delivery.

After transitioning into the CIF, Justin served as an Executive Officer before advancing to his current position as Regional Director. In this role, he leverages his industry knowledge to help shape policies, address sectoral challenges, and promote the growth of the construction industry within his region.

Emmet Nee

Cronan Kennedy

Technical Specification Advisor, Ecological Building Systems

Cronan has over 15 years’ experience in the construction sector across multiple technical roles, working with architects, engineers, county councils and local building merchants as well as providing technical installation training to contractors on site.

Professor Jamie Goggins

Director, Construct Innovate

Prof Jamie Goggins is a Chartered Engineer with more than 20 years of experience in consultancy, construction, expert advisory work and research on many projects worldwide. He was appointed as the 7th Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Galway in 2020, a position that was first held by Prof W. Bindon Blood in 1850. Within the University of Galway, he has also served as Director of Research & Innovation in the School of Engineering and has also led the development and delivery of the first two Sustainability Strategies for the university in his role as Chair of CUSP . He has been lead principal investigator on over 80 research projects in the past fifteen years, most in collaboration with industry. Jamie’s research projects include the development of sustainable construction technologies, energy efficient buildings, life cycle analysis, ocean energy technologies (tidal, wave, offshore wind), earthquake engineering design methodologies, structural control and health monitoring, and computational mechanics. Jamie served on the Board of the Civil Engineering Research Association of Ireland (CERAI) from 2012-2022 and is former President and Chairman of the CERAI Board. He is an advocate for sustainable development. He is also actively involved in Engineers Ireland, the professional body for Engineers in Ireland, serving as elected member of Council (2016-2020), an interviewer for the Registered Professional Titles of Engineers Ireland and a term as Chairman for the West region, and continues to serve on the West Region committee for more than 10 years.
