Design and Build for Performance – Passive House seminar, 28th November 2024, UG
06/11/2024/by Kasia Heffernan![20240919 Webinar cover-02 This topic will cover the use of data in the construction industry, which includes broad areas of building information modelling (BIM) technology, digital twinning, simulation and visualisation methods. Digitalisation fundamentally changes the ways in which construction teams interact. Technologies such as BIM can seamlessly monitor the materials and products delivered to the construction site, in a manner that respects the need for sustainability and traceability. Sensors provide data for digital twins and their incorporation into construction elements; while augmented reality technologies are beginning to be used for site inspections, allowing continuous monitoring of construction process and conducting quality control checks with greater ease. This series aligns with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).](https://constructinnovate.ie/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/20240919-Webinar-cover-02-1-1030x435.jpg)

Construct Innovate Industry Day
07/10/2024/by Kasia Heffernan![20240920Webinar series cover The built environment and construction industry is in a position of considerable responsibility and influence, in terms of delivering a more climate-resilient economy (Ernst & Young ‘Detailed Description of Needs for the Irish Construction/Built Environment Sector’ report, 2021). Climate action continues to be one of the key drivers for the construction sector, and this will continue to be the case for the foreseeable future in Ireland and internationally. The Government must meet very challenging CO2 reduction targets while ensuring sustainable development. This creates opportunities for the retrofitting of existing structures and finding improved ways to construct new buildings and infrastructure. This module explores sustainable construction processes and products, and aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).](https://constructinnovate.ie/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/20240920Webinar-series-cover-1030x435.jpg)
