The Construct Innovate IndEx (Industry Exchange Day) will take place in the Radisson Blue, Athlone, on Thursday, March 27th. IndEx is a great opportunity to network with fellow members and discover collaboration and funding opportunities through industry-led research projects.

During the Information Session 1 our speakers will present funding opportunities available through Construct Innovate, as well as and explain other funding opportunities supported by Construct Innovate and available to construction sector.

Series of workshops based on “Challenge Questions” submitted by you, our Associate and Patron Members, will fallow.

In the Information Session 2 selected industry-led research projects will be presented fallowed by the networking sessions grouped in 3 themes: Productivity, Technology Adoption and Sustainability.

We want to hear your questions and challenges so we can develop and facilitate a series of workshop discussions around these industry challenges. If you wish to submit a question for consideration as a workshop, please click the link below and follow the instructions.

This will allow us to reserve appropriate amount of spaces for a sit-down lunch in the hotel’s restaurant. If you are not planning on staying for lunch – please choose the free of charge event ticket. You can always change your mind and pay for your lunch on the day.

About the day

Professor Jamie Goggins

Director, Construct Innovate

Prof Jamie Goggins is a Chartered Engineer with more than 20 years of experience in consultancy, construction, expert advisory work and research on many projects worldwide. He was appointed as the 7th Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Galway in 2020, a position that was first held by Prof W. Bindon Blood in 1850. Within the University of Galway, he has also served as Director of Research & Innovation in the School of Engineering and has also led the development and delivery of the first two Sustainability Strategies for the university in his role as Chair of CUSP . He has been lead principal investigator on over 80 research projects in the past fifteen years, most in collaboration with industry. Jamie’s research projects include the development of sustainable construction technologies, energy efficient buildings, life cycle analysis, ocean energy technologies (tidal, wave, offshore wind), earthquake engineering design methodologies, structural control and health monitoring, and computational mechanics. Jamie served on the Board of the Civil Engineering Research Association of Ireland (CERAI) from 2012-2022 and is former President and Chairman of the CERAI Board. He is an advocate for sustainable development. He is also actively involved in Engineers Ireland, the professional body for Engineers in Ireland, serving as elected member of Council (2016-2020), an interviewer for the Registered Professional Titles of Engineers Ireland and a term as Chairman for the West region, and continues to serve on the West Region committee for more than 10 years.

Dr Magdalena Hajdukiewicz

Director, Construct Innovate

Magdalena is a chartered engineer, lecturer in energy systems engineering and director of Construct Innovate: Ireland’s national research centre for construction technology and innovation. Her research interests focus on sustainability and innovation in the built environment, building performance modelling and monitoring, computational fluid dynamics simulation, indoor environmental quality, and smart and sustainable construction.

Colm is an experienced senior manager and chartered engineer with broad experience across the construction industry, both in Ireland and abroad. Passionate about efficiency, sustainability and delivering quality.

Networking session themes

During the workshop sessions, academic and industry members brainstorm the defined challenge questions posed by industry. This format allows members exchange ideas and knowledge and translate them into research-based activities. The IndEx provides an atmosphere of networking, collaboration and trust-building among Construct Innovate members and ensures the Centre, and its research programme, is industry-led.

Athlone city is served by an extensive public transport service:

Athlone Bus & Rail Station is a five minute walk from the hotel.

Trains run directly to and from Dublin & Galway daily. Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail)

Bus Eireann provides daily bus services to and from all parts of the country. Bus Éireann and Citylink, with air-conditioned coaches and free Wi-Fi.

We would like to encourage you to use public transport to get to our event.

Is there parking available at the venue ?

There are 145 parking spaces in the hotel – complementary for hotel guests and delegates.
